The awards committee is pleased to report a successful awards presentation program at the National Convention Banquet.

This committee was established in 2000 at Atlantic City and is made up of the 10 district commanders and an awards chairman appointed by the National Commander. This committee is tasked with nomination and selection of the Joe Negri Submarine Veteran of the Year award. The committee further expanded the awards program to recognize and honor other deserving shipmates. The awards presentation was well received at the evening banquet.

Due to the travel restrictions that resuted from the 9/11 attack, our awards presentation was slightly modified due to absence of some awards winners.

Earlier at the Annual Business meeting the following shipmates were recognized for there outstanding efforts and dedication to the USSVI.

  • Submarine Memorial - Marion County - Ocala, Fla.
  • Ray Aten (Nautilus Base)
  • Rose Bowl Parade. 100th Submarine Anniversary
  • C.J. Glassford (San Deigo Base)
  • Leadership Award
  • John Carciopollo (Groton Base)

The awards committee extends our heartfelt congratulations to each of you.
Shipmates we salute you.

Respectfully submitted
