The Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum has received final approval from the US Department of State to take a position on the USS RAZORBACK SS-394 from Turkey. This was our last big hurdle before bringing her home to the US. We are now doing the final planning to tow her home.

She will be moved from the Turkish Navy base in Gölcük Turkey to the ship yards in Tuzla Turkey. She will remain there for about 30 days to get her ready for tow and to get her batteries removed and some other needed work.

We are hoping to leave Tuzla around the 15th of November with an expected arrival in New Orleans around the 24th of December (Merry Christmas).

She will remain in New Orleans a few days before starting her final voyage up the Mississippi and Arkansas River to North Little Rock Arkansas.

The USSVI Razorback Base has almost completed the work on the 3 barges that have been set up for her temporary mooring facility until her final berthing space is completed.

With any luck she will be open to the public on Memorial Day 2004.

I will post more information when we get all the plans finalized.

Thanks to all who have been involved.

Commander - USSVI Razorback Base
