Return to KEEPERS

Subject:    Retention and recruiting involve all Subvets.

In order to achieve the kind of success we are looking for in USSVI, it will require a re-dedication by all involved in the process. Retention and recruiting are most successful at the Base level where the day-to-day contact with our current and former submariner shipmates and potential new members occurs.

The foundation for a successful retention and recruiting program incorporates some intangible qualities. For USSVI, these key qualities include:

TEAMWORK - A group of Subvets working toward a common goal. Our goal is to build the strength of our organization through increased membership in the USSVI.

PERSONAL CONVICTION - Commitment to our belief in what the USSVI stands for and what the USSVI is all about:

REMEMBRANCE - We remember our departed submariner brothers who honorably served in war and peace. We especially honor those who perished in the great struggle against evil and tyranny in WW II.

FELLOWSHIP - We meet and participate in group activities to keep alive the spirit and bond of comradeship with our fellow brothers of the dolphin.

COMPASSION - To our brothers we extend a helping hand and words of encouragement or solace when they are needed. Through our Charitable Foundation we extend scholarships, maintain memorials, provide holiday meals to submariner families in need and do other good works as the need and the opportunity arise.

ENTHUSIASM - Delivering the USSVI message with zeal and intensity that lets other non-member Subvets know how sincere we are about USSVI’s mission and programs.

PRIDE/PROFESSIONALISM - This quality incorporates teamwork, personal conviction, and enthusiasm, and allows us all to represent the USSVI in a professional manner at all times.

The foundation for a successful USSVI retention and recruiting effort is in place. If we continue to believe in what the USSVI is all about, we will reap the benefits of our efforts with an increase in retention and new members into the USSVI in 2003. And if you don't like such flowery ideas, just pay your dues for 2003. Annual or Life. And recruit a new Member.

Aloha
