Subj: National Magazine for USSVI Widows

I have directed (with the concurrence of NC and NSVC) that National Office use the following procedure upon the death of a member shipmate.

The surviving spouse of a regular member will receive the national magazine for the remainder of the members term unless the surviving spouse requests her name be removed from the mailing list.

The surviving spouse of a Life Member will receive the national magazine for four more issues unless the surviving spouse requests her name be removed from the mailing list.

In either case the surviving spouse will be offered the option of joining USSVI as an Associate Member at our regular rates.

I urge all bases to invite the surviving spouse to join their base as well.

This came about because there was no set procedure for handling the problem.
