Posting Date: 04 July, 2005 From: John Dudas VA Awards Grants to Veterans Homes VA Awards Grants to Veterans Homes The Veterans Administration announced on June 8, 2005 several grants that it has awarded to improve veterans homes in five states. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced a grant of more than $713,000 to renovate the Robert H. Jenkins Veteran's Domiciliary in Lake City, FL. A grant of $1.6 million was made to New Hampshire for updates to fire and safety equipment at the state veterans home in Tilton. At the same time, more than $612,000 to renovate the veterans home in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Also, the VA awarded a grant of more than $1 million to the Commonwealth of Virginia for improvements to the Virginia Veterans Care Center in Roanoke. And finally, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) awarded a grant of $758,000 on June 8, 2005, to the state of Washington for an addition to the kitchen at the state veterans home in Spokane. |
