Open Season Scheduled for Compensation

The next Combat Related Special Compensation and Concurrent CRSC/CRDP Open Season, during which retired members eligible for both the Combat Related Special Compensation and Concurrent Retirement and Disability Pay must choose between the two, is scheduled for Jan. 1-31, 2006.

CRSC is a non-taxable, special pay not considered a part of retired pay. Eligible retirees will receive a letter that provides an explanation and instructions along with an election form that must be returned to DFAS.

Once an election is made, it cannot be changed until the next CRSC/CRDP Open Season. Eligible retired members who have not yet done so, must apply for CRSC through their branch of service.

Additional information on CRSC, guidance, and addresses are available online on the DFAS Retired Pay's website. There, you can also find a CRSC application form.

Eligibility for CRDP is automatic based on meeting minimum disability rating criteria and does not require an application.
