Wives, Widows, Mothers, Daughters and sisters (16 years and over) are our membership.       The members CANNOT be girlfriends.

As an Auxiliary, the details of their operation will be left to their
leadership. Please pass the word to all the ladies at Base meetings,
in Newsletters, etc., so they may join if they wish.

I expect everyone attending the Ladies Luncheon in Reno will have the
opportunity to chat with Ella and find out more. The SubVettes will
make an annual report to the NT of USSVI and be treated like a Base in
our annual tax return.

A Ladies Auxiliary has been authorized in the USSVI C&B for a long
time, I'm glad it is finally a reality.

The 11 bases of District are sponsoring a Boot Camp Company at Great
Lakes Naval Training Center that will graduate September 19 2003 at
1000. The name of this boot company is, "United States Submarine
Veterans Inc. District 5."

The boot company's name and names of the 11 bases of District 5 will
be on the Company Flag. Arrangements have been made where subvets and
guests won't have any difficulty getting on the base.

We invite all National Officers,Regional Directors,District
Commanders, Base Commanders and the USSVI membership to join us on
return to the boot camp many of us started our Navy Careers.

One of the Boot Company's Commanders will be a qualified submariner.
These young men are the further leaders of the Submarine Service and
Navy. Scheduled activities are as follows: September 18 2003 Lunch
with the company in the mess hall. Visit with the recruits in the
barracks in the afternoon.

September 19 2003 Graduation 1000 hours. Dinner with wives Friday
evening in a local restaurant.

Other activities on the base will also be arranged.

I am looking into the possibility of having a hospitality room.
Activities for the wives are being planned.

For those wishing to stay at the Navy Lodge I can made the
reservations for you. Cost is $56.00 per night. I need your name and
Social Security number to make reservations. Make payments when you
arrive.

For additional information you can call me after 1700 on weekdays or

The Base Commander of Crash Dive Base is making the dinner reservation
for September 19,2003. He has requested that I give him a dinner count
so as to make the necessary arrangements for the Dinner Activity
September 19, 2003.
