ITEM-04 .... PLAQUES FOR A MEMORIAL SITE AT SEAWOLF PARK

The Cavalla Historical Foundation is in the process of building a
memorial site within Seawolf Park with a plaque for each boat lost in
WWII.

We are seeking donations from those interested.

The donation for one Bronze Plaque is $400.00.

We already have several bases and individuals who have contributed to
donate a plaque. This is a beautiful memorial park, in fact, the
plans were posted some time ago on Ron Martini's BBS and on the
Cavalla BBS.

Ron Smith is coordinating the matching of donations and boats.

As mentioned, several boats are already taken including the USS
SEAWOLF plaque that was donated by San Jacinto Chapter of WWII Subvets
plus a USS HARDER plaque donated by an individual.

If an individual, or a base is interested in donating a plaque, or if
several individuals or bases wish to make a joint contribution for a
Memorial Plaque, please contact Ron Smith.

I rarely include in these BROADCASTS items which wander very far from
USSVI stuff. But this is something that is so cool that I just gotta
break my own rule.

Your members may get a kick out of following the meanderings of a
former Aussie bubblehead as he travels through America. I would
suggest you give them a heads up on this.

Don Gentry has created a section in his website to track Blue's
travels. and of course it is done with that professional look and
style we have learned to expect from Don.

Don says this:

    "Join Paul 'Blue' Hartridge (a submariner from Western Australia)
    as he travels around the US visiting boatsailors and other folks
    of equally questionable character."
