ITEM-03 .... WHITE MOUNTAIN (ARIZONA) BASE LAUNCHED
===================================================================
SUBMITTED BY:
LEIF LARSEN    subsailor@charter.net
===================================================================
On Saturday 24 July 2004 the White Mountain Base, Arizona was duly
launched.

13 USSVI Members and the requisite 5 members of the local base were in
attendance along with Dave Harnish Western Regional Director.

I personally thank Jim Clewett, the driving force behind this base
startup. I know that he's been working on this for well over a year.
With advertising help from local newspapers and radio stations
submarine veterans kept coming out of the hills.

Newly recruited USSVI members initially joined the Perch Base who will
now be transferred to White Mountain. As with the Tucson Base,
launched earlier this year, Perch Base was instrumental in assisting
Jim Clewett and the White Mountain Base with their startup. My thanks
to the Perch Base officers and membership.

White Mountain Base Meetings will be held the 3rd Saturday of the
month at 1100. Contact Jim Clewett for location.

Again Bravo Zulu Jim

START ANNOUNCEMENT
=====================================

Dear Shipmates:

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the 2nd annual Clear
Submarine Film Festival at the Albany-Saratoga Convention on September
16th at 1330 hours.

This fundraiser is designed to raise money for our library and general
fund while providing a venue for the Convention attendees to view two
and a half hours of action packed submarine movies not available
elsewhere on this planet.

Films will include a pre-1960 feature length film, some 1950
television episodes, some Navy produced, and submarine training
shorts-the kind we all cut our teeth on.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the convention.

Your $10 ticket entitles you to stay for the entire two and a half
hours session or just drop in and view a flick for 15 minutes between
tours.

Please send a check (along with your convention registration form)
payable to:
