Item 01 .... Appointment of New National Secretary
===================================================================
Submitted by:
Tom Conlon, National Commander
===================================================================
Please join me in welcoming John Markiewicz as our new National Secretary.

Gordy Clark has resigned as National Secretary. Gordy cited business and family considerations as his reason for resigning. We wish Gordy well.

With Gordy's resignation, I asked John to step in as National Secretary. As you will remember, John was a candidate for National Secretary in the past national election. He was the logical choice to take over.

In telephone conversations and an exchange of emails, John says that he is looking forward to his responsibilies as National Secretary. Past National Secretary Pat Householder and I (also a past National Secretary) will be assisting John as he takes on his new job.

I believe that John will be a valuable asset to your Board of Directors.

Tom Conlon, National Commander

Item 02 .... Renewal Letters to be Sent
===================================================================
Submitted by:
Pat Householder, NJVC / Membership Chair, householderp@comcast.net
===================================================================
BASE POC Contact:
PLEASE DISTRIBUTE TO ALL BASE COMMANDERS AND MEMBERSHIP CHAIRMEN:

On or about January 31st we will be sending out a renewal letter solicitation to all USSVI annual members of record who have not yet renewed their USSVI memberships for 2005.

These members are all classified "not in good standing" at this point. As they 're-up' they will regain their "Member in Good Standing" status, but those who remain unrenewed on April 1st will have to be removed from the membership rolls.

In the body of the renewal letter I also remind them to renew their base dues with the following statement.

"It's preferable that you renew through your local Base. If you are unsure who to contact at your Base, I encourage you to contact Fred Borgmann at the USSVI National Office at (877) 542-3483 for assistance."

Unfortunately, since there is no consistency in our national base dues structure, I cannot collect the base dues for you in the solicitation, so you will still have to keep after those base shipmates who have not yet renewed.

We need your help! Please help us out by insuring that all your current base member renewal status information is communicated to Fred Borgmann ussvi@telebyte.net at the National Office by Jan 25th so that we do not send renewal letters to members who have already renewed with your base. It will save USSVI postage and mailing expenses and will minimize confusion with your already paid up members.

Also, our Base contact information for those who handle the Membership is extremely stale. Please reply back to me householderp@comcast.net with the name and email addy for your Base Membership person.

Ex: Base Name, Person, Email.

That will save Fred a lot of time over the next year as he sorts out various membership related issues.

Thanks again for your cooperation.

Fraternally:
Patrick Householder
NJVC - Membership Chair
