Election Year ================================================================= Submitted by John Markiewicz ================================================================= As you all know by now, 2006 is an election year for USSVI. This year we are considering the publication of the ballot in the American Submariner third issue, which will hit the street around the first of August. The ballot will include the National Officers, Regional Directors and Proposed Amendments to the Constitution and By-Laws. Any member in good standing can nominate any other member in good standing for any elected National Office, so long as the Nominee meets the requirement of office and prepares a letter of acceptance to accompany his nomination indicating acceptance of the nomination and willingness to serve and the nomination is received by the Nominating committee Chair on or before April 30. (Refer to Bylaws-Article VII for complete details; see Constitution Article XI for National Officer requirements for office). All Proposed Amendments must be received by the Constitution & By-Laws Chair by the 1st of April. (Refer to Bylaws-Article VIII Section 1: Amendments). New Patch Available ================================================================= Submitted by Art Randall ================================================================= Shipmates of USSVI I have come into the possession of patches donated by a source that wishes to remain anonymous! They are four inches wide by two inches tall. The background is black in color, and the inscription is in one of two-forms. "U.S. NAVY" underneath of which are Dolphins, below which are the words "SUBMARINE FORCE," all of which including the Dolphins are embroidered either in gold or silver metallic threads as ordered by you. The patch may be seen at: http://www.ussvi.org/stornatl/06-001.jpg The backing has Velcro in place so that they may be attached to most vest's cloth at any time wanted and removed when not wanted. For some surfaces a pulloff sticky backing tape with Velcro on the reverse may be used to attach the patch to any surface.. This is a good news for everyone involved 1. The Donor will feel good that his donation was well received. 2. A smart looking patch can be worn by both former or active duty Enlisted and/or Officer Personnel 3. The cost is low - $2.00 plus shipping for each patch (enough for the Base Storekeeper to mark up a little if deemed appropriate! 3. The proceeds from each sale are split, 1/2 to the National Storekeeper, to help build his inventory and 1/2 to the USSVI Charitable Foundation.
